FAQ

Straight answers about how we work together: safety, consent, process, and what happens after the shutter closes.

What kind of work is this?
Analog black-and-white portraits and figure work, usually with available light and a small kit. Most of the people I photograph are women. If what you see on the home page is the kind of work you want, we are likely aligned. Anything beyond that we sort in conversation, not from a deck or a pre-written mood board.
How do sessions work?
We can meet in person first, or have a phone call first, whichever you prefer. From there we talk through what we are making together. Nothing is rushed. The process is collaborative: you are not fitting into a pre-written shot list.
How much is a shoot with you?
I work on commission, so there is not a single public price list. Each project has its own scope (time, travel, what you want from the day, how the images may be used), and the fee follows that conversation. Send a short note about what you have in mind on the contact page and we can talk numbers before anything is confirmed.
Do you do TFP?
Yes. I take on time-for-print when the collaboration is the right fit, and I prefer that to paid work when it makes sense. We still talk through scope, boundaries, and how the images may be used before we start, just as we would for a paid commission.
What about safety and boundaries?
Respect and safety are non-negotiable. The boundary is explicit: you cannot touch me, and I cannot touch you. You control what you give, and you can stop at any time. Nothing is taken from you.
Can I bring a friend or someone with me?
Yes. If having someone there helps you feel at ease, that is welcome. Whatever makes you comfortable.
Do I have to be nude or undressed?
No. What we photograph is something we agree on together. Some work on this site is unclothed because it simplifies the frame to light, shadow, and presence, but that is never assumed or required without your clear consent.
How are images edited?
What the camera sees is what remains. There is no manipulation, no smoothing, and no chasing trends or β€œperfect” feed aesthetics. The point is to keep something real from disappearing.
Why only black and white?
It is a deliberate constraint: it strips distraction and keeps attention on form, light, and emotion, the parts of the image that matter most for this work.
Where are you based, and do you travel?
I am based in Canada and am available to work in other places when the project and timing make sense. Say where you are when you reach out and we can talk through logistics.
How does publication and consent work?
When images may be published or used in a way that requires a release, that is handled clearly and in writing. You can read the full clauses on the release form page and ask questions before you sign anything.
What do you do with my pictures?
They are not posted, sold, or passed around without clear agreement. I keep files carefully and only use them for what we discuss beforehand, whether that is images just for you, portfolio or publication, or something in between. If you want a stricter arrangement, say so when we talk and we will align to that.
Can you keep my identity anonymous?
Yes. We can plan for that together. That might mean keeping your face out of the frame, avoiding details that would identify you, keeping the work private with no public use, or other boundaries you name. Tell me what anonymity needs to mean for you and we will build around it, and put the important parts in writing when a release applies.
How do I get in touch?
Send an email from the contact page. A short note about what you are drawn to and any questions is enough to start.
